Stroke and Parkinsons

Neurological disorders can affect individuals in many ways: physiologically, psychologically, and socially. Music Therapists use music as a tool to target an individual’s specific goals and objectives, while also contributing to the individual’s overall wellbeing. Because music affects individuals noninvasively, Music Therapy is an effective treatment for individuals who have experienced a stroke and/or Parkinson’s disease.

Music Therapists use music to work on maintaining or regaining mobility, improving speech and language skills, boosting mood, and improving memory. At the same time, Music Therapy also aids individuals in processing emotions, decreasing feelings of isolation, and improving overall wellness.
