Playlists for Continuing Care

When it comes to finding the right motivation it is best to experiment with different musical preferences until you find the perfect partner for the goal you hope to achieve. To get the inspiration flowing we have put together the following playlists. *These are not prescriptions – just a starting place.  We hope you find them helpful.

Every playlist you develop, every song you select, every melody you hum, can bring you into a creative process that can ease minds and help bring residents into a life that is fuller, and hopefully a little less lonely.

SONGS FOR DINNERTIME IN CONTINUING CARE (start at 4:30pm and will run to 6:15pm)

While musical preferences can vary greatly among individuals, here is a list of 25 classic songs that are often enjoyed during dinner by people of all ages.

SONGS THAT MAKE US WANT TO MOVE – GREAT FOR EXERCISE

Music is an invitation to action. It invites us into the main auditorium when you’re attending a conference, it generates anticipation as the theme song plays at the start of your favorite TV show, it cues our mind and body as we prepare to get ready to move.

SONGS THAT BRING COMFORT – ALL AGES

For generations, people all over the world have turned to music to induce calmness and relaxation. Studies have shown that listening to music can have stress-reducing qualities, and this has been compiled in a systematic review and meta-analysis

SONGS THAT MOTIVATE –  FOR YOUNGER FOLX

Music activates more areas of the brain simultaneously than any other activity we know of, and for this reason, music is effective in engaging our attention and getting us going.

So why do you need a purposeful playlist? Here are some of the most popular goals we have heard from family, friends, and clients:

  • For comfort
  • To reduce stress
  • To lessen anxiety
  • To improve mood
  • To find purpose
  • To increase productivity
  • To boost creativity
  • To enhance focus
  • To feel inspired
  • To strengthen relationships
  • For general self-care

Using and sharing playlists with others is an opportunity to learn about one another. It is about creating connections, staying curious about others, and listening to what is important to them. You may remember the song, and they may remember a story too. Together all your lives will be enriched.

Every playlist you develop, every song you select, every chord you strum, can bring you into a creative process that will ease your mind and guide you to see your world through a different lens — bringing you a life that is fuller, and hopefully a little less lonely.
